The amount of time it takes for pet grooming varies by breed and service, but you can usually plan on it taking up to four hours. Express service can be arranged upon request. All day stays can also be arranged. We strive to accommodate you and your pets needs.
Most dogs need to be professionally groomed every 6-8weeks or less to keep their nails, ears, skin and coat in optimal condition.
Bark Avenue is a fully visible, open concept salon. Although we understand the owners desire to stay with their pet during the grooming process, we do not allow the owner to stay. Having the owner present can agitate the pet and make the groomers job difficult if your pet is constantly trying to get to you. Pets usually become more calm and cooperative once the owner leaves.
We NEVER sedate pets. If your dog has been known to have a strong behavioral reaction to grooming, please advise us when booking the appointment. If a pet is truly uncooperative or made uncomfortable by the process, we might end the session – but we will never sedate your pet.
Greasy skin and coat combined with natural shedding causes matting. And once a small tangle or mat forms, it grows very quickly. The only real defense against tangles and mats is regular bathing and drying done by a professional groomer who truly knows what they are doing. Please understand that brushing out severely matted dogs DOES hurt. To prevent unnecessary pain, dogs that are very matted will be shaved down.
A healthy pet naturally releases their anal glands when they go to the bathroom. Manually expressing anal glands inhibits the pet ability to release them on their own. If your pet requires their anal glands expressed, we recommend that it be done by a veterinarian.
